30 Day Geek Out Challenge – Day 3 & 4

The questions for days 3 and 4 are:

What was your favorite convention experience?

What was your worst convention experience?

Why am I combining the two questions in one post?

Well, unfortunately, I have never been to a nerd-related convention, so there isn’t a ton for me to describe here.

Attending a convention has been on my bucket list for a while. I can’t imagine anything sounding more fun than hanging out with a bunch of like-minded fans wearing fantastic costumes and talking about nerdy stuff.

It’s just never worked out for me to go. For one thing, there aren’t really any conventions that happen where I live, so going to one would involve travel. I also haven’t always had friend circles who would enjoy doing something like that with me. I know, I know, I don’t need a group to go with, but I think it would be a lot more fun with friends.

If I did go to a convention, I’d love to see something like Star Wars Celebration or D23 where I could experience a lot of my favorite fandoms.

Would I cosplay? Absolutely. Another thing I’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the time/resources. I’d love to put together a costume as Darth Talon from Star Wars or Sansa from Game of Thrones.

One type of event I have frequented are medieval/renaissance festivals, which are a lot like conventions in many respects. I love dressing up, eating the food, watching the performers, and checking out all the gorgeous merch. Here are some dorky pics of me dressed up.

But enough about me. I want to hear about your convention experiences. What do you love about them? Are there any in particular that I should go to?
