What real life geek inspires you?

The real life geek that inspires me is the person who is the reason I am a geek in the first place – my dad!

He loves to read, especially history, fantasy, and sci-fi; I know my passion for books started with him. He especially had a love of Arthurian legend, so I grew up loving the stories about King Arthur, Queen Guinivere, and the Knights of the Round Table.

He is interested in science and history, and I could always count on him to help me come up with ideas for research papers or science projects in school.

Growing up, he introduced me to Star Trek, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and superhero movies. Most importantly, he introduced me to Star Wars, one of my favorite fandoms.

He took my brother and I to see the original trilogy when they were re-released in theaters, before the prequels came out. And of course, he also took us to see the prequels.

Without my dad, I may not have become as passionate about my geeky hobbies. So, here’s to the original Nerd Dad!
