30 Nerdy Christmas Decorations for Every Kind of Nerd

When you think about Christmas decorations, you probably think about Santa, elves, and reindeer. But who says Darth Vader, Iron Man, and Harry Potter can’t also be part of the holiday decor? Thanks to sites like Amazon and Etsy, you can find nerdy Christmas decorations for many favorite fandoms.

I rummaged around the web to find the coolest nerdy Christmas decorations out there. But before we get to those I’d like to share some of the basics when it comes to decorating.

Tips for Christmas Decorating

Maybe you’ve never really taken a stab at Christmas decorating before, or maybe you have but didn’t give it much thought. If you want your Christmas decor to really stand out this year, there are some things you can do to give it some “wow” factor – including your nerdy Christmas decorations.

Work around a focal point. If your room has a central feature, like a fireplace or an accent table, use that feature as a focal point. You can frame the fireplace with some larger props or figures, hang the stockings from the mantle, and put some trinkets on top.

Choose decorations that fit the space. Too many small items in a large space or large items in small spaces can create the appearance of clutter.

Pick a theme. You may choose one or two colors to focus on, or you may simply make decorations from your favorite fandom the theme! Your decor can still look great even if it’s not as coordinated, but making everything look cohesive can really make it pop.

Don’t clutter up your practical areas. You probably have to use your kitchen counters almost every day, so you don’t want a ton of decor on them, but that doesn’t mean your kitchen has to be left out of the festive fun. Get creative with other locations, like the space on top of cabinets. You can even hang ornaments from light fixtures!

Don’t forget to child-proof. I have two little ones, and within 10 minutes of starting my Christmas decorating, I’ve usually had to yell, “Don’t touch that!” more than once. Think about your kids and their ages before you choose decor items and locations.
