30 Day Geek Out Challenge – Day 7

What fandom do you love that you didn’t think you would?

I didn’t grow up in a superhero family. Sure, I watched Batman cartoons on TV when I was a kid, and my parents kind of liked that Superman show that was on for a while starring Dean Cain.

I knew some of the big names, but I didn’t really pay attention to the superhero universe. It felt like many of the DC and Marvel movies being made had sub-par writing. I was too busy gobbling up Lord of the Rings and Star Wars to pay much attention to comic book superheroes.

That changed when the Marvel Cinematic Universe became a thing, and really only because of my husband. He loved those movies and insisted I watch them with him.

I am glad I did.

When my husband is excited about something, it is infectious. He’s typically a mild-mannered guy that maintains a calm demeanor. But when he gets hyped about a fandom, his personality lights up.

When he nerds out, I can’t help but nerd out with him. He’s introduced me to many things since we’ve been together: Magic: The Gathering, Mad Men, and The Walking Dead, to name a few.

The Marvel movies are something he get’s animated about, so now I do too.
