30 Day Geek Out Challenge – Day 8

I actually have two hobbies that are kinda geeky!

Megan over at A Geeky Gal blog created this challenge for fellow geeks to share all about what makes them nerdy. You can see her completed challenge post here.

What geeky hobby do you have?

I actually have two hobbies that are kinda geeky!

I have always loved to write (big surprise, since I started a blog, right?). I like to write everything.

I wrote poetry and short stories a lot in high school. I’ve always had jobs that involved writing, from data analysis reports to technical procedure writing.

And now I am taking a stab at this whole blogging thing, which is what I am enjoying the most.

What also makes this a geeky hobby is that I have also ventured into the fanfic writing sphere.

I’ve never really finished a story, but I’ve written short excerpts when inspiration strikes me. The three fandoms I’ve written about are Lord of the Rings, Dragon Age and Star Wars.

Video Games

I grew up on Nintendo 64 classics like Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers.

The release of Halo for Xbox was kind of a game changer for me. I started really seriously playing games. I was often the only girl at Halo LAN parties, back when that was still a thing.

Now, my gaming tastes run heavily in RPGs. I’ve spent countless hours in Bioware’s series (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Knights of the Old Republic) as well as Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.

Narrative has become really important for me in video games. Some of my other favorite include The Last of Us, Detroit: Become Human, and The Witcher.

Nothing like a foot to entertain a baby while mama get’s her game on.

I still have time to play sometimes, despite having two little ones. I’ve even played video games while breastfeeding before!

Tell me about your geeky hobbies! Anyone else write fan-fiction I should check out? Got any game recommendations? I want to hear about it.
